Shopping

Shopping with the kids is always an adventure.

Daphne climbed into the back of the cart when I wasn't looking.

Daphne loves weighing items in the
bulk food section at the grocery store.

Spurs Game

The boys went to the Spurs game last night. They enjoyed the game even though the Clippers got the win.

Pandas vs. Polar Bears

Lately Daphne has been mixing and matching her PJ tops and bottoms. Then she asks us which half of her ensemble we are pulling for: pandas vs. polar bears, cats vs. dogs, ponies vs. polka dots, etc. Then she has some kind of imaginary battle between top and bottom and excitedly tells us who won the battle.

School Carnival

The school carnival was this past weekend and the kids lived up for all five hours it was open. Daphne was particularly wiped out afterward.

The cardboard box maze was Daphne's favorite
thing at the carnival. She probably went through
4 or 5 times.

Tyler's favorite thing at the carnival was Meltdown, which
involved jumping over and ducking under moving inflatable arms.

Soccer

Tyler still loves playing soccer and Daphne still loves posing in trees before his soccer games.

Lately Daphne really likes walking over to the creek near the
fields. We try to go before or after the game or during halftime.

Tyler (#9) in action

Daphne actually took this action shot of Tyler.

Daphne grew quite fond of this caterpillar that
she found during the game. She was quite sad
when we told her she couldn't bring it home.

Beep Beep

I thought we had outgrown crazy shopping carts but apparently not. We came across this cart at Randalls last week and Daphne just had to ride in it. She is much harder to push now that she's a big 5-year old! It didn't help that the cart was uneven and the weight of Daphne in the car in the front lifted the back wheels of the shopping cart off the ground. Daphne was ever the little dictator. She buckled her seat belt and every time I stopped for something she made me unbuckle the belt so she could get out, get the item I needed, and put the item in the cart. Then she strapped herself back in and wouldn't let me start moving again until she honked the horn to indicate that she was ready. Thank goodness they don't have these carts at HEB and that I only go into Randalls occasionally!

Inner Space Cavern

Last week I went with the 2nd graders on their field trip to Inner Space Cavern. In past years the parent volunteers drove separately but for this field trip we got to ride on the school bus with the kids.

Tyler even let me sit by him on the bus.

Because of heavy rain the day before, there were a number
of bats sleeping on the ceiling of the cavern.

The largest room in the cavern is located underneath I-35.
The cavern was discovered when the project team drilled core
samples in preparation for designing the freeway.
