Camp PawPaw Day 3- Water Park

Texas City has a nice public water park that was perfect in size to manage 5 little ones. We spent all our time in the lazy river and on the play/splash structure. There were two tall tube slides for those 48" and over. Tyler was the only one of the kids who met the height requirement but he was too scared to go down.

Lazy river

I forgot to bring Daphne's floatie and so I spent the whole time
chasing her around the lazy river. She was insistent she do it
by herself but she was too short to stand and could barely dog
paddle with her face out of the water. I grabbed her repeatedly
and made her take breaks to get air.

Ready for blast off- Micah enjoys this space-

Camp PawPaw Day 2- Backyard Water Fun

We spent a couple hours running around the back yard with foam swords, water balloons, super soakers, and the triple lane slip and slide. I even took a few fun slides on the slip and slide.

ARGH! Let the water fun begin!

Damon and Micah mostly ran across the slip and slide
while Tyler, Noah, and Daphne did belly slides.

PawPaw instigates a sword fight.

The kids loved throwing the angry bird at the
cardboard towers.

Noah donning Tyler's blanket.

Tyler and Noah lost interest in Uno pretty quickly because
they were having too much doing other stuff.

Micah was too little for VBS so he got to go out to dinner with
PawPaw and me every night. He enjoyed playing with my red
reflector and playing Angry Birds on my phone.

Camp PawPaw Day 1- Arrival and Start of VBS

Have I mentioned that over the years my dad has taught the kids the basic rules for staying at his house?
     Rule 1: PawPaw's house, PawPaw's rules.
Rule 2: What happens at PawPaw's stays at PawPaw's.
The big kids can recite these rules. The first day was really a half day because we all arrived mid-afternoon in advance of the start of VBS. And the kids always go haywire when they get together and haven't seen each other in a while.

This year's Camp PawPaw theme was Angry Birds and so Mary
made some tasty and awesome-looking themed cupcakes.

My dad added too much black food coloring for the
Bomb's frosting so we made the kids eat those
cupcakes with their shirts off.

Cupcake vampire!

There was a lot of jockeying for position in the SUV.

Not sure why the kids are so amused about trying to mess up my hair.

Not only did the kids get treats at PawPaw's house
but there was also dessert at the end of VBS each night.

Camp PawPaw

Last week was "Camp PawPaw". The kids and I spent the week at my dad's house in Houston along with my 3 nephews while Michael held down the fort in Austin. The kids went to VBS in the evenings and we did all sorts of fun activities during the day. Many more photos to come...

Fight for your Right

Have I mentioned how obsessed Tyler is with video games? It's a constant battle to limit his screen time because he could play video games non-stop if we let him. In the car the other day, The Beastie Boys' 'Fight for your Right' song was playing on the radio. Tyler said, "You don't need to fight for your right to party. You need to fight for your right to play video games!"

Whee!

Lately when we are in the car, Daphne treats any "hill" like a roller coaster whether it's a large freeway interchange ramp with a big elevation change or a little bitty slope. She puts both hands up in the air, calls out "Whee!", and giggles.

It's a Jungle Out There

Daphne went to a jungle-themed birthday party yesterday. The face painter did an awesome job!
