Sleepy Girl

I'm always amazed the ways kids will sleep
when they are really tired!

Round Rock Express

We finally made it to a Round Rock Express game this past weekend. We caught the second game of a double-header, which actually worked out well because they only played 7 innings. That's about all the kid's attention could handle. Plus there were fireworks after the game so we counted that as our July 4th fireworks even though it was 2 nights early. The kids had fun mostly because of the silly games, music, fun zone, and treats (hello cotton candy and snow cones).

The kids also spent time in the bouncy house.

Tyler and Ryan got their groove on. Tyler wouldn't stoop so
low as to do the chicken dance with Daphne and me later.

Truck

Michael and Tyler took Michael's parents truck to pick up
1 ton of crushed granite to touch up our walkways.

Weird Al

We introduced the kids to Weird Al Yankovic's music this weekend. We saw a human interest piece on him on CBS' Sunday Morning and Tyler particularly found his videos and lyrics funny so we played a bunch of Weird Al's videos that are on YouTube. Tyler really likes the video and lyrics for The Saga Begins, which is a parody of Don McLean's American Pie and is all about Star Wars Episode I. The video is pretty entertaining.

Manipulation of Mommy

I overheard Tyler telling Daphne that if you want more Mommy snuggles at bedtime you have to put on your best sad face. I am a sucker for snuggles!

Swim Lessons

Tyler and Daphne took swim lessons the last two weeks. Tyler did awesome and passed his class with flying colors. He has come a long way with his freestyle and floating. His teacher said he was one of her best students. Tyler is nervous about the next level because they swim long laps. We will probably work on his new skills the rest of this summer and do the next level next summer.

Daphne is not lacking in water confidence but is lacking in focus. She only passed about half the skills in her preschool level swim class. Daphne's teacher said she is fearless, which we already knew from her insisting she can swim and wanting us to not help her much in the water. She gets mad when I grab her in the water but I always think she is sinking! Daphne's teacher said that because Daphne thinks she already knows how to swim, she didn't want to listen to instructions or how to use proper form. Hopefully next summer she will be more mature and more accepting of instruction. The funny thing is that Daphne keeps saying she wants to take swim lessons every day the rest of the summer.

Rock Climbing

Tyler's cub scout pack went indoor rock climbing last weekend.

Tyler liked that this wall was shorter,
but it was a lot steeper.

Roman is at the top of this wall
ringing the bell.

Tyler didn't want to go too high so he would
climb to the yellow line and then rappel down.

Are we having fun or what?
