Snaggletooth

Daphne lost 2 teeth in one day! She lost a tooth on the bottom at school and then that evening she lost her top tooth that had been dangling ever since she lost the other top front tooth. It was a busy night for the Tooth Fairy.

Gymnastics Performance

Daphne's gymnastics season wrapped up with a little performance last week.

The class did a really cute joint floor performance and then
each one of them did an individual floor performance.

Daphne loves the high bar!

Very excited about her trophy

Tyler Track & Field

For Tyler's track and field day each class in the 3rd grade competes against the other classes for overall first, second, and third place and for a sportsmanship trophy. Tyler's class had a few top 3 finishes in the events and had lots of fun along the way.

The 3rd grade side of the field. The races alternated between
the 2nd and 3rd grades.

Each race included a group of 10 from each class.

Daphne Track & Field

The kindergarten track and field day was earlier this week. The kids rotate through various stations. Although they "compete" as teams within their class, they only stop the activity when time runs out and so there never really is a winner for each event.

The Tree Hugger is the only competitive event. Each class
tries to get as many people in their circle through a hula hoop
in a finite time limit.

The event was capped off by a hula hoop contest
between the kindergarten teachers.

Scout Service Project

On Saturday morning our scout den divided up into pairs and added or replaced storm drain markers in the neighborhoods near use for Austin's Watershed Department. The markers have an image of a frog and say "No Dumping- Leads to Streams". The boys also put hang tags on front doors educating people on other ways to prevent chemicals from going to streams.

Tyler scrapes the concrete to remove dirt/debris.

Ryan brushes the dirt & debris away.

The markers had a heavy duty circle of 2-sided adhesive that
the boys used to get the marker to stay in place on the concrete.

Tyler and Ryan installed 12 markers
over the course of about 2 hours.

Camp Mabry

We spent Mother's Day weekend doing a one-night campout at Camp Mabry here in Austin with Tyler's cub scout pack. The weather was a little warm but there were a few shady sopts and it cooled down at night.
Daphne made a paper rocket.

Michael and Daphne launched her rocket.

Tyler ignited his real rocket. It went really far and
the top cone came off.
