Birthday Parties

On a recent Saturday Tyler went to back-to-back birthday parties and got his fill of video games. Luke's party was at Blazer Tag. Tyler still isn't a fan of the dark and so he spent most of the party playing arcade games. A video game truck came to Esteban's party.

Tyler's Track & Field Day

The second graders actually competed by class for bragging rights. There were at least 12 different earth-themed relay races where 8 - 10 members of each class competed against the other six classes plus a big tug-of-war showdown with multiple rounds. Points were awarded to each class for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places for each event and overall. Tyler was excited that his class came in first for two of the relays that he participated in. The largest trophy of the day was for sportsmanship. The kids did a really good job of cheering each other on.

Alternative transportation mode: jump roping

Another recycling relay

Save the world- this was definitely the most fun to watch. Five
kids at a time formed a chain on the ground and used their feet
and hands to pass a beach ball with the globe on it.

Daphne's Track & Field Day

Track and Field Day was held over several days a few weeks ago with different activities by grade level but all with an earth theme. The pre-k events had individual events that the kids did at the same time, group events where the kids worked as a class, and relay races that were non-competitive with the kids cycling through their group repeatedly until time ran out. Some of the 5th graders ran the events for pre-k.
Jumping rope is hard when you are in pre-k!

Dirt shoveling relay

The obstacle course (hoops, hurdles that you duck under,
and cones) was Daphne's favorite event

How do you keep this thing above your hips?

Battery recycling relay

The 5th graders had a hard time getting the pre-k to follow
their directions. The windy conditions didn't help!

Free for all!

Snow cones were a definite highlight!

Super Busy

The second half of May has been really busy and flew right by. The kids had tons of activities and Ludy and Susan were in town from California the past week and a half. Lots of photos to come...

Pretend

A few days ago Daphne was playing in my closet and pretending that it was her house. I asked her where the potty was for when she needs to go the bathroom. She said, "There's a potty right outside." referring to the master bathroom. She later called it a port-a-potty. I also asked Daphne where the kitchen is when she gets hungry. She replied without hesitation, "There is a restaurant downstairs and people make me food." I was quite tickled by this. Daphne also referred to the stairs in our house as her hill to get to and from the restaurant.

Daphne likes to pose with the red ball bollards
just about every time we go to Target.

Lots of silly faces lately

when we are out and about she exclaims it to be a comfy chair.

Mother's Day and Maker's Faire

I had a very nice Mother's Day. We went out to brunch with Michael's parents and then we went to the Maker Faire at the Palmer Event Center. The Maker Faire had lots of cool stuff- drone races, tons of robotics (hands on and demonstrations), power tool drag racing, arts and crafts, etc.

Daphne and Michael made a
flower pin with an LED center.

There were lots of LEGOs

Daphne: How old do you think I am?
