Soccer

Soccer season started over a week ago. Daphne is also playing this fall and is very excited about it. The focus for her age group is definitely about learning the fundamentals (e.g. which goal they should be targeting). Daphne is not used to doing so much running and so she tires out easily during the games. Luckily the coach subs the girls out every four or five minutes.

Tyler is playing with his same coach and two of his old teammates. Unfortunately the national soccer league decided to restructure the age groups for the fall. The age groups used to be by school year but are now done by calendar year. That meant a bunch of the kids Tyler had been playing with the past two years moved up to the next age group. We were glad that the coach's son Gavin is in the same age group as Tyler because Coach Shawn is awesome. This season his team is Argentina and Coach Shawn gave Tyler the #10 jersey because he knew Messi is Tyler's favorite player. (For those not up on international soccer, Lional Messi is #10 for Argentina).

We were supposed to go camping with the cub scouts this weekend but they canceled it based on the rain forecast. Daphne was able to get her early morning game in but Tyler's game got rained out. Daphne's coach made each of the girls cute hair ties with purple and soccer ball ribbons to go with their uniforms.

Big Girl Bed

Since the beginning of September we have been busy shuffling three bedrooms around, painting them, and replacing the ceiling fans, curtains, outlets, and switches. We most recently finished painting Daphne's new room purple and have one room left to paint.

Daphne is graduating to a twin bed,
which was delivered this past week.

Comfy bed!

These days you never know what kind of outfit and color combinations that Daphne will concoct!

Popcorn vs. Green Beans

Daphne just told me, "If there wasn't popcorn, I would eat green beans forever."

'B' is for Butt

Today in school Daphne's class worked on the letter 'B'. The teacher asked the kids to draw items that start with the letter 'B'. She asked Daphne what the circle with the line down the middle of it was on her page and Daphne said it was a butt. Only Daphne! Thankfully she also drew a balloon and a bow to balance out the subject matter.

Prize Box

Daphne is quite proud of herself for earning prize box at school on Fridays. The kids earn tickets throughout the week when they are good and then on Friday they get to cash those in for a toy from the prize box.

Popcorn Sales

It's popcorn selling time for the Scouts! Last year the new cubs started at the tail end of popcorn season and didn't have to sell any. This year our goal is to sell at least $250 worth of popcorn. Tyler and Ryan got off to a good start with a 2-hour stint outside of Walmart this evening. They were pretty excited when people bought something. A lot of people thought they were super cute.

Biggest and Beautiful-est Wedding

This evening at bedtime Daphne asked me a few questions about weddings. Then she declared that she wants to have the biggest wedding and the "beautiful-est" wedding and that she wants the prettiest flowers that are ruby red.

Pre-K

Daphne's Pre-K teacher loves taking pictures of the kids, which is great because I love seeing what she has been up to at school.

Daphne has been using 99, 100, and 101 lately to describe
things. I believe this is based on hearing us use the term 100%.
For example, she will say, "Mommy, I love you 100."

Yesterday Daphne's teacher asked each student to share: "What was your favorite thing that we did this week?" Daphne's response was "sitting very quietly". I asked her why she picked that and she said because if you are quiet and good you get prize box. Daphne was pretty excited she got prize box yesterday and brought home a fun Minnie Mouse stencil ruler.

Pre-K must really be wearing Daphne out because she keeps telling us proudly she actually naps during naptime. She hasn't regularly napped for us since January. The Pre-K students get a 45-minute nap this month and they decrease it by 5 minutes each month to prepare them for kindergarten.
