Rock Climbing

Tyler's cub scout pack went indoor rock climbing last weekend.

Tyler liked that this wall was shorter,
but it was a lot steeper.

Roman is at the top of this wall
ringing the bell.

Tyler didn't want to go too high so he would
climb to the yellow line and then rappel down.

Are we having fun or what?

Flat Stanley

Earlier this year Tyler's class did a Flat Stanley project. Each student mailed out 2 Flat Stanley characters to friends or family anywhere in the world. Part of the goal was to map out all the places that Flat Stanley visited. To get some map points outside Texas, Tyler decided to mail his requests to Tia Ludy and Aunt Megan. I think these were done in February or March. We just got them back at the end of the school year.

Ludy, Susan, and Susan's mom (who was visiting from New York) took Flat Stanley all over the LA metro area.

Aunt Megan rallied Uncle Brad, Hazel, and Penelope for a trip to the New Orleans zoo to show off the swamps, alligators, fish, turtles, birds, and other animals native to Louisiana.

More Shopping Adventures

I was looking at trash cans and the kids
were eager to model them for me.

Daphne is drawn to any chair on display.

Tyler had to get in on the action too.

My Adventurous Shopper

Shopping trips are never quick with Daphne in tow. She wanders off constantly, wants me to buy her everything she sees that's interesting, and generally zooms all over the place.

Making silly faces on the Barnes & Noble stage.

Petting the fake dog at Old Navy.

Cousins!

Tyler and Daphne spent most of last week in Houston hanging out with their cousins. To say they had fun is an understatement. One of the highlights of the week was a trip to the beach with Uncle Bryce and PawPaw.

Micah, Noah, Damon, and Daphne

Micah could play in the sand all day!

PawPaw said that Daphne was "a little hurricane" and
that she was the hardest one to control because she
wanted to go too far out in the surf and wouldn't come
when they called her.

Tyler and Noah spent a ton of time on their boogie boards.

Bryce and PawPaw made  Daphne take a break in the shade.
She complained about it and then promptly passed out and
took a long nap. Bryce said, "Thank goodness because she
was wearing us down."

The day after the beach, Bryce took the exhausted kids to see
the Angry Birds movie. They look a little too comfy!!!!

Cub Karts

Last weekend Tyler's cub scout pack held Cub Karts, which was a go-kart race to have fun but also to see who was the fastest. Each cub got to race in the unpainted kart on the north side and in the red kart on the south side. The unpainted kart and the slightly steeper grade on the north side of the parking lot made for much faster times. A few cubs veered off course but most of them made it to the finish line pretty easily.

Ryan and Tyler ready to race

Ryan's kart veered off course, which is why you only see
Tyler cross the finish line in the video.

Mr. Competitive (aka Tyler) looks so serious!

Daphne played near me at the finish line
where I timed the karts on the north side.

Company Picnic

Michael's company picnic was last weekend and the kids were thrilled that the playground where had so many fun climbing elements.

Daphne couldn't climb as high as Tyler,
which was perfectly alright with me.

Water balloon toss was a hit!
