Star Wars Dinner Conversation

Me: Tyler, what would you do if I became evil?
Tyler: I would try to turn you back to good.
Me: What would you do if Daphne went to the Dark Side?
Tyler (grinning): I would defeat her.
Daphne: Ask me what I would do if Tyler were evil.
Me: Daphne, what would you do if Tyler were evil?
Daphne (grinning): I would defeat him. I would punch him and kick him.

Darth Maul does Housework

The kids are really excited about Halloween and have been counting down the days. Yesterday Tyler even wore his Darth Maul mask to help clean up around the house. Pretty scary! I miss when he was a baby and I got to pick out cute costumes.

Boring!

"Boring" is currently Daphne's favorite word. She uses it at least 20 times a day. Just about everything is boring according to her- people, activities, clothes, etc. I'm not even entirely sure Daphne completely grasps the meaning of the word but I feel like I'm dealing with a tiny teenager.

It's Raining, It's Pouring

Daphne and I ran a bunch of errands yesterday in preparation for the rainy weekend. Thankfully the rain was mostly light yesterday because it takes a million years getting in and out of the car with Daphne and her umbrella. She's so cute though!

Cub Scouts

Tyler recently became a Cub Scout. One of our neighbors is the Den Leader and Tyler already knew most of the boys in his den and so he has really been enjoying their adventures. We were supposed to do our first campout this weekend but they had to cancel it due to all the rain.

Video Games

Tyler frequently wants to play video games and we have been working on the right balance of screen time. Last weekend Tyler had to choose between going to his school carnival or a friend's birthday party that included a visit from a huge trailer full of video games because they both took place at the same time. There was no hesitation in Tyler's decision.

Fall Fun

Although the weather did not feel much like fall (mid-90s in October???), we visited the Elgin Christmas Tree Farm last weekend for some fall fun. Not pictured: when I got nailed by a sprinkler on a hay ride and got soaked. I think Tyler laughed the hardest! It actually felt pretty nice since it was so hot.

Ready for adventure

Per Brian's suggestion, Tyler and Carter pretended to fight
on the bow of the boat to mimic a James Bond scene.

Concert

We caught a free outdoor concert Saturday night. The kids seemed to like it. Daphne liked dancing in the grass and got so carried away that she blindly ran into a woman sitting on her picnic blanket so we had to reign her in a bit.

Biking with PawPaw and Jamie

Tyler & PawPaw

Daphne shared the bike trailer with Jamie. It
was hard to tell if Jamie enjoyed the ride. I
could definitely feel the extra 30 pounds on
the uphill portions of our ride!

Say What????

Halloween costume:
For the past few weeks Daphne has been saying she wants to be a dragon for Halloween. Then she saw a unicorn costume earlier this week and has been talking about being a unicorn instead. Tonight Daphne declared she wants to be a cheetah-dragon-unicorn. (Recently she has been talking a lot about cheetah-dragons.) I think I will let that one ride for a few days.

Rhombus:
This evening Daphne and I were reading a book on shapes. After correctly identifying the diamond Daphne said, "A pretty word for that is rhombus."

Mermaid:
Another book had a mermaid with a tail bracelet that Daphne wants me to buy her. I asked Daphne how she planned to wear the bracelet since she doesn't have a tail. After a series of questions Daphne essentially told me that she will be a mermaid for the next 6 weeks starting tomorrow afternoon.

Chuck E Cheese

Last weekend we went to a fun Minion-themed party at Chuck E Cheese for Isaac, who is the son of Michael's cousin Jennifer.

Daphne loved all the rides

Tyler loved earning tickets but thought
this hamster wheel wasn't worth the
effort to only earn 3 tickets.

Both my boys are drawn to video games!

Soccer Goals

Here is a clip of Tyler scoring a goal last weekend. He managed a hat trick that game.

Soccer

Soccer season is in full swing and Tyler is excited to be playing again. This season is a little harder because now the boys are playing 4x4 instead of 3x3 and the quarters are each 2 minutes longer. Plus, the boys stay on the field longer before subbing out and so they get pretty tired.

Tyler is at the far left side of the photo.
