Longhorns vs. Aggies
Tyler switched from an Aggie fan to a Longhorn fan not long after we moved to Austin. This summer he taught Daphne how to do the hook 'em horns hand symbol. This evening during ballet class Daphne looked at me and flashed me the horns and a big grin. Later on during class she flashed me the horns on one hand and the Aggie gig 'em on the other. At least Daphne still wears Aggie apparel!

Dinner Silliness
Cool, Awesome, Great!
Every day this week when we asked Daphne to tell us about her day at school she replied, "Cool, awesome, great!"

Star Wars
We went to a fun Star Wars themed birthday party last night.
Daphne's shirt says, "Together, we can rule the galaxy." |
The kids took turns swinging a lightsaber at a Death Star piƱata. |
The Death Star was more elusive when the bigger kids were up to bat. |
The birthday boy, Jackson, was dressed as Han Solo. |
Hamilton Pool Park
Yesterday we went out to Hamilton Pool Park for a gorgeous short hike. You can usually swim in the pool below the waterfall but the water has been off limits this year due to high bacteria levels.
The waterfall was more of a trickle since it hasn't rained much since June but it was still pretty neat. |
Daphne loved climbing on all the rocks. |
If you look close you can see Michael and Tyler towards the top right of the photo. |
We even saw some catfish in the water. |
Teamwork?

Funny!
Tyler said something this evening that made me laugh.
Me: You're funny!
Tyler: Of course! I'm the funniest one in the house.

Rock 'n River
We drove up to Round Rock yesterday to check out Rock 'n River and really enjoyed it. Michael and I liked the lazy river, Daphne liked the frog slide, and Tyler liked the shallow alcove where he could practice his swimming. Daphne kept saying she wanted to go on the playground and she meant the 2 big slides in the background of the photo below. She was too short for the 48" height minimum. Tyler measured tall enough to ride (although we measured him at 47" a few weeks ago at home) but he was too scared to ride. He said he would ride the slides next year.

Tiny Dancer
Daphne recently started a dance/gymnastics class. They do 15 minutes of tap dancing, 15 minutes of ballet, and 30 minutes of gymnastics. Daphne really likes it so far. I think this class is a great way to introduce dancing in a way that holds a 3-year old's attention span.
Visit from PawPaw
My dad and his dog Jamie came to visit us last weekend. We were also dog-sitting Rocco (Michael's parents' dog). All parties, kids and dogs included, had a good time.
Daphne loved walking Jamie. |
Tyler and Rocco do some hopscotch. |
Water break! It is still hotter than Hades here. |
Getting ready for a round of mini golf |
Tyler loves playing but doesn't yet have the patience to take the time to get squared up before taking each shot. He did get his first hole in one during this game though. |
Daphne gets bored after a few holes but is content to play in the shade and collect rocks. |
We played a few rounds of Uno both days while Daphne was taking her nap. |

On the Phone
Tyler and Daphne were playing with a toy phone. I overheard Tyler say, "I just sent you an email. You should see it now."
