Happy Halloween!

Dance Moves

I was hanging out with Tyler and started bobbing my head to music that was playing in another room of the house.
Tyler: "No dancing Mommy! Only Daddy can dance."
Me: "Oh. Is Daddy a better dancer than me?"
Tyler: "No. Daddy is just hopping around."

The Zoo

The drums are always a hit!

Calvin and Tyler really enjoyed petting and brushing the goats.

Little Buddy

"Mommy, sit next to Little Buddy." This is what Tyler said this morning when he wanted me to sit next to him in the back seat of the car on the way to daycare.

Baggenstos Farm

Tyler loved watching the tractors. There were at least 3
tractors taking people to and from the pumpkin patch.

Lourdes, Calvin, Tyler, and Renee

Sandie, Christopher, Teresa, and Viola

The kids were drawn to the small pumpkins since they
were much easier for them to pick up.

Tyler liked running through the field of pumpkins.

Digging for potatoes

All the kids loved running through the hay maze. I liked
that I was tall enough to watch them and easily navigate.

Flu Shot

This morning I received a flu shot as part of my pre-natal appointment and had planned to take Tyler through the general flu shot line after my appointment. Tyler threw a fit after I got my shot because he wanted one too. He kept whining, "I want a flu shot!" and even tried to take off my band-aid. When Tyler did eventually get his shot he took it like a champ and happily accepted a car sticker from the nurse.

Sharing

Today at the grocery store Tyler rode in one of the red race car shopping carts. (Our grocery store has red cars and blue cars.) While we were zooming around the store, Tyler said, "Ziggy ride in the blue race car." That's so sweet that he is already thinking about sharing with his sister. Granted, I can barely push one race car cart around the store much less two at a time. That's why each one has two seats!

Back from Vacation

We just got back into town from a weeklong trip so it will be at least a few days before I sort through all the photos and post the highlights online.

Sun?

The past few days have been typical of fall in Oregon: overcast and rainy. We had the following conversation in the car after we picked Tyler up from daycare:
  • Tyler: Where did the sun go?
  • Me: It will be back next summer.
  • Michael: [chuckle!]

Little Buddy

Last night Tyler told me that Patches is his little buddy. That is so endearing because we call Tyler our little buddy all the time.

Who are you talking to Mommy?

Tyler has recently made me aware of how frequently I talk out loud to other drivers on the road while I am driving (e.g. “Pick a lane already!”). When I do this Tyler asks, “Who are you talking to Mommy?”

Leapin' Lizards

Tyler was quite pleased with himself for all the jumping he did in the mall's play area. He particularly liked jumping down the bridge as seen in this video.

Clara's 5th Birthday Party

It was raining out, so Beni the Llama wiped his feet and
came inside the Hirsch house. He was really well behaved!

Clara (in the center in the blue shirt and skirt) was excited
to have Beni the Llama at her birthday party.

Tyler did not want to go near the llama, but Michael,
Ziggy, and I wanted a family photo with Beni.

Tyler crawling through the princess tent and tunnel.

Tyler and Viola making art.
Tyler had a blast with this car until he rolled it down
the stairs and we had to take it away from him.

The birthday gift opening melee! 5-year olds have no concept
of personal space, hover as close as they can to see better,
and all wanted the birthday girl to open their present next!

Gig 'em Lil' Aggies

The little Aggies seemed oblivious that our football team blew a huge lead against Arkansas and ended up losing!
Monkeying around

Bouncing with Allen

Rolling around with Devin and Dane before getting kicked
out of the "no minors" area of Macadam's Grill.

Crime and Punishment

This morning Tyler told me that his two teddy bears had pushed him. Then he went and put both the bears in his crib for a time out. Later Tyler told me that the bears had apologized to him and so he took them out of time out.

Catchphrases

Lately Tyler has been using the following 2 phrases frequently:
  • No problem.
  • Oh, sure. (in place of yes)
