Most of Tyler's soccer team got together last night to celebrate the end of soccer season. This is the end of Junior Academy and in a few months they start Select Soccer, which is more competitive and runs from August through May. A few of the boys are moving to another team for team balancing but we are gaining a few boys that Tyler played with last fall so it should be good. The boys received a medal for finishing out the season and a medal for coming in second in their bracket during the recent Spring Shoot Out.

Happy Mother's Day!
The family treated me to a nice Mother's Day today: brunch at Jack Allen's, a trip to the Zilker Botanical Gardens, and some board games.

Spring Shoot Out
Tyler's soccer team (Argentina) played in the Spring Shoot Out in Round Rock this past weekend. They had an awesome tournament. They ended up coming in 2nd place in their bracket with 2 wins, 1 tie, and 1 loss. Their favorite game was their win against Brazil, who is their local nemesis that shut them out earlier this season. Their teammate Jaxon normally plays in the field with Argentina but also plays goalie for Brazil and could only play for Brazil during the tournament. Team Argentina started out with a goal on the kick off and you could see how pumped up Argentina was throughout the whole game. The boys were thrilled to beat Brazil. It was a fun tournament and Tyler was definitely wiped out by the end of the weekend, especially since 3 of the 4 games were on Saturday.

Daphne 'Banana' Hurtado
Our little banana has been signing her name on artwork and other stuff as Daphne Banana Hurtado. That girl cracks me up!

Banana Language
Daphne continues to babble on in her banana language. She often responds to questions simply with "Banana!" or some mutation of the word banana. Michael asked her if she could teach him the banana language and she told him, "There's too much to cover." Recently after a stream of banana-bananoo gibberish Daphne told me "I speak all the languages... except the real ones."

Smart, Athletic, & Funny
I was looking through the recent batch of school work that Tyler brought home. On an English assignment he had to create a sentence using commas in a series with 3 or more items and he wrote: "I am smart, athletic, and funny." That gave me a good laugh. I asked him why he wrote about himself and he said he couldn't think of anything else!
