Hanging Out

Tyler is starting to tolerate tummy time for longer periods of time when he is in the mood. Sometimes he likes to do tummy time on my lap. I start him off with my knees up and then gradually lower my knees until my legs are flattened.

Splish Splash

We finally started giving Tyler his baths in the bathtub about a month ago instead of on the kitchen counter. We still put him inside the infant tub since he can't sit up yet, but he finally started kicking and splashing the water enough that we wanted to contain all the water in the bathtub. I don't miss the days when Tyler used to scream for the entire bath! He currently enjoys his baths but not enough to want to play with any toys. Tyler's favorite part of the whole process is still getting wrapped up in his hooded towel and getting dried off.

Chew Toys

Tyler started reaching for the hanging toys on his rainforest activity mat. He thoroughly enjoyed grabbing the spinning discs with animals on them and alternately putting each disc in his mouth.

So Silly

During tummy time Tyler beat me in a contest to see who could fit more of
their hand in their mouth!

Falling asleep while taking a bottle. Tyler often tries to help hold the bottle but
he doesn't know his own strength. He usually ends up pushing the bottle too
hard and it pops out of his mouth. Then he wonders where all the milk went.

Switching into nap mode.

Taking a quick 15-minute snooze on my lap mid-feeding.

Tyler in the Bumbo chair. Being a traffic engineer I couldn't resist getting him the toy keys on a traffic signal key ring. Although the toy is operationally incorrect (the red and green lights come on when you push the yellow button), it is still fun. Tyler still does not really reach for toys, but if you put one in his hand he will grab on to it and then promptly stick it in his mouth.

Napping

Light Sleep- It's amazing how Tyler can still suck on his pacifier while he is asleep.
Sometimes he falls asleep while taking a bottle and he continues to drain the bottle!

Heavy Sleep- I know Tyler will be out for a while (well, at least 15 minutes)
when the pacifier has fallen out and the only movement is his breathing.

Tyler is starting to resist naps in his crib less but he is still definitely a power snoozer. He doesn't take any 3-hour naps that I have heard other moms talk about.

Space Saver High Chair

Even though Tyler is not yet eating solid food, we just got this nifty space saver high chair. (Thanks for the recommendation Jill!) It attaches to a regular dining chair, which works out very well for us or else we would need to get rid of one of our kitchen chairs to make way for a typical high chair. The chair is very adjustable and Tyler is able to lay in it in the recline position since it will be a while before he can sit up. Now Tyler can actually sit at the table with us during meals instead of being down low in his bouncer. We would have gotten the chair sooner if we had known it existed! Tyler really seems to enjoy sitting up high with us during meals. During lunch today he was super chatty and making all kinds of conversation-like noises. He was a little fussy during dinner, but once we propped up a little bottle for him he was distracted enough to let us eat dinner in peace. There is also a tray we can attach when he starts eating solid food or we can just adjust the chair so he can eat from the table. And if you thought all that was nifty, the back of the chair is removable so that it can just be used as a booster seat when Tyler is a lot bigger. Pretty good bang for the buck! I should get endorsement $ from Fisher-Price.

Downtown Park Blocks

I had a d'oh moment Saturday morning. We went to the farmer's market downtown and then went strolling through the park blocks. We stopped at a bench for a while so I took Tyler out of his stroller. I forgot that in addition to the diaper bag on the back we had also added a bag of goodies from the farmer's market to the handlebar (in addition to a bag in the bottom basket) and without our little chunk in the stroller I lost all the counterbalance and the whole stroller tipped over backwards. I was embarrassed! At least Tyler was safely in my arms when the stroller went down and I am guessing many a parent before me has experienced this oopsie.
