Whenever we do homemade pizza Daphne always wants her crust in the shape of a heart. Tonight she wanted heart-shaped pepperoni too. Turned out pretty cute! |

Pinewood Derby
Last weekend was Pinewood Derby for Tyler's cub scout pack. Michael helped Tyler shape his car, add the weights, and wheels and I helped him with the painting. Tyler designed his car for speed this year and went with a sleek coat of red plus some details.
Awards- big trophies for the top 3 fastest, small trophies for the popular aesthetic vote (e.g. best pop culture car, best scout spirit), and medals for the top 2 fastest in each rank |
The wolf rank sits in the VIP area to watch their cars race |
Each car got to race on each of the 4 tracks |
Tyler's car came in second in this heat. Tyler won one heat
and came in second in two other heats, but the competition
was stiff and he came in 4th overall in the Wolf rank.

Hair Cut
I took the kids in for haircuts and Daphne said she wanted her hair cut short. She actually showed the hairdresser that she wanted her hair cut to above her ears. I swayed her to a shoulder-length bob. I also suggested bangs because Daphne has been resisting letting me style her hair so that it doesn't fall in her face. The bangs have definitely helped.
This is the tie-dye shirt that Daphne made at her birthday party. |
Daphne's Birthday Party
The weekend before last we had a tie-dye shirt birthday party at the Art Garage. Daphne had been to the Art Garage for a party before and loved it because she loves art projects. All of the kids made either a bulls-eye or swirl style tie-dye shirt during the party. Daphne thought it was awesome.

Trail Clean-Up
Tyler's cub scout den recently braved the cold (a rare 30-degree morning!) to clean up a trail near their school as a service project for one of their badges. They sure did find a lot of trash. Their den leader asked the boys what they thought the most interesting piece of trash was that they found and Tyler said it was half a coconut.
McKinney Falls
By New Year's Eve my dad plus Brad and family had headed home. Bryce, Michael, and I decided to take the kids to McKinney Falls for the afternoon and then spent a low-key New Year's Eve at home relaxing and getting the tired kids to bed.
Although the water was cold, it was a warm enough day to enjoy putting your feet in. |
