Daphne's Dance & Gymnastics Show

Daphne's dance/gymnastics class came to a close this week with a show for family and friends.

Ready to go

Daphne chose to play with her tutu instead of doing the tap
dance routine. We were mortified but couldn't stop laughing.

Daphne really did well with the ballet routine, which is funny
because she keeps saying that she likes tap better than ballet.

Daphne is fearless on the high bar!

Zoo Field Trip

Tyler got to go on a field trip to the zoo last week. They got lucky because it was one of the few days it didn't rain.

Captain America

Tyler got to see Captain America to help
his buddy Luke celebrate his birthday.

Posing

Tyler has always been a willing photography subject.
Can you spot Daphne in the trees making silly faces?

Ryan's Birthday Party

Tyler's buddy Ryan had a fun birthday party a few weeks ago. Daphne was quite excited that she got to go to the party too.

The party included fun gym obstacle courses, time in a dark
room with fluorescent body paint, and dodge foam.

Naturally Daphne wouldn't pose. You can see her multi-colored
shorts poking out in the back right of the photo.

Movie Night

Time to Play

Daphne and I had some much-needed mommy-daughter time yesterday.

Daphne's castle

Daphne wanted to build a castle I could fit inside and
she insisted on building in a nook for my purse

Adding more layers to the castles

When I Grow Up

Yesterday Daphne told me that when she wants to grow up she wants to be an American Ninja Warrior and build battle bots. Obviously she draws her inspiration from her big brother.

Color Fickleness

Daphne has been fickle about what colors she likes and does not like over the past few months. We stopped using the purple cup for milk because she would throw a fit. But go figure she still likes her old purple sippy cup with flowers on it. Last week Daphne told me she doesn't like the color brown. I told her that I like brown and that her and I both have brown hair. Daphne said emphatically, "My hair is honey brown!" Then yesterday Daphne really wanted me to buy her a multi-color summer outfit that has a lot of pink and purple. I asked if she would wear it because she doesn't like purple. Daphne said, "I like all the colors now. Holden likes all the colors, including pink and purple."

Mother's Day Celebration

On Thursday, Tyler's school had a fun Mother's Day celebration. All the moms got pampered by our kids. I got to sit at Tyler's desk and he brought a menu by for me to select breakfast foods and beverages. He gave me a back rub and put lotion on my arms. Tyler also made a fun handprint for me in art class and they put together a nice bound booklet about why mom is the best.

Our Climber

Our fearless climber is getting taller and climbing more and more stuff.

I used to lift Daphne up to help me start the
washing machine. Now she insists on hoisting
herself up from the stool.

So proud of herself

I was not pleased Daphne climbed on top of the tunnel slide.

End of Soccer Season

Tyler's soccer season ended a few weeks ago. Five of our team members and our coach have played together during the fall and spring for the past two years. However, our league is switching to the new age rules that go by calendar year instead of school year and so our boys now fall in three age categories for the fall and will have to split up. This team has had a lot of fun together.
