Well Behaved

Yesterday Tyler brought home a Certificate of Recognition from his teacher for following directions at all times. He is quite proud of his certificate, which is now hanging on the fridge.

Playing with PawPaw

PawPaw gets a new hairdo. If you look closely you will see
that Daphne and PawPaw are wearing matching hair bows.

Ms. Fix-It

Earlier today Daphne took most of the tools from the toy work bench in Tyler's room so that she could "fix" the toy kitchen in her room.

Grocery Shopping

You never know if the kids are going to draw smiles or glares from fellow shoppers but one thing is for sure, there are never any dull moments when grocery shopping with my little monkeys!

Body Shapes

Daphne (blue shirt and light blue skirt) helped form the point
of the heart when her preschool class made shapes using their
bodies this week.

Neon is Alive and Well

The red penny was part of a practice scrimmage, but the rest of the outfit, including the water jug, were all hand-picked by Tyler. It is still pretty hot so the kids take plenty of water breaks. I had to hydrate well just to spectate because there wasn't any shade in sight! Cooler weather is supposedly coming this weekend though. Woo hoo!

When I Grow Up

At dinner tonight Tyler told us he wants to be a paleontologist when he grows up. He also chatted on and on about school more than he has in the past 2 weeks since kindergarten started. I think he is finally getting used to the routine and is probably less overwhelmed now. Tyler's favorite part of school is PE (no surprise there) and he is making friends. One of his friends from his class even rides the same bus as Tyler.

Soccer

Tyler is playing in a soccer league for the first time and had his first game yesterday. In the past Tyler did soccer programs that taught the kids skills in a fun way. They would scrimmage some at the end of class but they didn't play games. They didn't keep score during yesterday's game, which is a good thing because I think our opponent had about 20 more goals than our team. The kids played 3 on 3 (no goalie) and every five minutes or so the coaches would sub everyone out for the next 3 players. Tyler almost made a goal but it bounced off the left post. He did have an awesome save where he got between his opponent and the goal, right in front of the goal, and he cleared the ball away from the goal as his opponent was trying to score. Tyler was very proud of that move after the game.

Ready to go in his fiery new cleats

Tyler in action.

Even though the game was early, it was pretty hot
out. Tyler was super sweaty and probably drank
about half of his big water jug. I told him he
looked sweaty enough to be a World Cup player.

Cousins

Bryce, Sonia, and their three boys came to town over Labor Day weekend and we all had a blast. We spent some time in the water since the weather was very hot.

Can we get in yet? Tyler said this was the best pool he had
ever been to because it was a pool, splash pad, and playground
all in one. There was definitely something for everyone.

The electronic generation: Micah, Daphne, Noah, Tyler, and
Damon. We did not pose the kids. They all started playing
with tablets on the stairs. At one point even little Micah (age 1)
managed to get a hold of Michael's cell phone and call me on it.

Our little ninja turtles wore their masks out to dinner
and got quite a few smiles.

Lick Ice Cream. Definitely worth the long line!
